Or racing thoughts, as some people call it. It all has to do with the mental restlessness associated with ADHD.
First, there is difficulty in falling asleep. When people with ADHD do fall asleep, it could turn out to be a restless one, with a lot of tossing and turning. At the slightest noise, they are wide awake.
Sometimes, their restless sleep discourages their partners from spending the night on the same bed. When they finally wake up, they may have already thrown the covers on the floor and torn their beds apart.
As you can imagine, this sleep is not in any way refreshing. Instead of waking up ready for the day, they often wake up as tired as they were when they went to bed.
Difficulty Waking Up
Most people with ADHD usually say that they wake up multiple times during the night until they fall into a “sleep of the dead.” This is a kind of sleep where it is challenging to wake up the person.
No matter how many family members try to rouse them awake, it is often unsuccessful. They even sleep through multiple alarms. No one likes to be interrupted when sleeping deeply.

Limit your sugary food intake to reduce the possibilities of mood swings. Usually, the restlessness will subside if you are tired enough.
Limit screen time
Keeping track of responsibilities is always more challenging. It’s tough to stay productive, manage stress, and focus when you’re tired.
However, since it could be difficult to get some sleep as a result of ADHD, you can support yourself by limiting screen time before bed.
A lot of researchers have revealed that the light from our electronic devices could also contribute to our inability to get to sleep faster.
So, turn off all screens at least two hours before bed to help you get at least 7 hours of sleep each night.
